About Us

What is IGP? What is RH?

Who We Are

Founded in June 2024, the Redwood Coast Schutzhund Club was created by a group of dedicated dog enthusiasts who share a passion for training, teamwork, and the working dog spirit. Based along the beautiful Northern California coast (Humboldt County), our club brings together handlers and dogs of all backgrounds — from traditional working breeds to mixed breeds with drive and heart.

We meet weekly to train, learn, and grow together in the three foundational phases of Schutzhund/IGP: tracking, obedience, and protection. In addition, several of our members are actively training in RH/Rettungshund (search and rescue dog sport), broadening our focus to include skills that highlight the versatility and real-world value of the working dog.

Beyond the field, we’re a community of like-minded individuals who value friendship, sportsmanship, and the pursuit of excellence — whether you’re preparing for competition or simply want to build a stronger bond with your dog.

The Redwood Coast Schutzhund Club welcomes all who are eager to learn, train, and celebrate the working dog tradition in a positive, inclusive environment.
